About the Author

The short of it is this: I am a Brazilian-American author with a background in social/cultural anthropology (depending which side of the pond you’re on!) and more specifically, in anthropology of food. I’m a child of two countries, two worlds, who has lived in multiple cultural contexts, including Argentina, and currently in the UK. I find meaning in the blend of my cultural influences. After all, we are all constructions of the water we swim in. Drawing from my roots, I approach storytelling from a tradition of magical realism. I enjoy the mundane with a dash of the extraordinary. And since food is that area of the human condition most intriguing to my curiosity, as social & philosophical inquiry as well as in the practical enjoyment of cooking and eating, most of my stories will include a culinary aspect. Food is never “just” food. It’s the other potentialities of food that drive many of my narratives. And, let’s face it, I’m a sucker for happy endings and love stories, so most of my books will include a sprinkling of romance amidst the meals and magic.

Through food we nourish our senses
Through stories we nourish our souls

Working Title: Love With a Touch of Time

Solo Fine Dining Chef Leo Miranda has an unbearable family “gift” that forces him to see a person’s future in the touch of their skin against his. Unable to bear this knowledge, he prefers to manage his world in a way that avoids human contact as much as possible. Adding to his stress, his little restaurant has become the target of some bad press, particularly from a local budget food blogger, Cass Carson, who seems to have made it her mission in life to go after fine dining chefs for inaccessible haute cuisine. When they meet at a party, Leo is determined to avoid touching her at all costs. He doesn’t want a reason to feel compassion for her. He has no idea how much his world will change with the accidental brush of her fingers on his.

Working Title: Naia & The Moon

The bedtime stories Naia grew up hearing from her grandmother weren’t the kind that told of breadcrumb trails and three bears, but rather one-legged whirlwind trickers and rainforest monsters. She loved the stories as a child, but she isn’t prepared to confront them as more than stories as an adult when her grandmother falls fatally ill with a curse she says was sent by the goddess of the moon. Naia will do just about anything to save her grandmother, including trying to ressurrect an ancient recipe whose ingredients are impossible to find in their modern city. Together with her best friend Aline, Naia will have to enter the improbable windows into the rainforest where they’ll face all the monsters from the stories, and others untold, including her biggest adversary of all: the prince of the moon himself. Naia and the Moon is a modern retelling of a Brazilian fairy tale!
